Below is exactly what we sell, why it costs a fraction of Microsoft's retail price, what happens if a key fails, and what to check before buying from us or anyone else.
Who we are

- Ownership: The Nerdused store has been owned and run by Transfleet Trading since December 2025. The team, products and policies on this page are ours.
- Microsoft partnership: Nerdused is a registered member of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program (Partner ID 6467441) and is listed in Microsoft's partner directory. Membership means Microsoft has verified our company identity and we work within its partner programme. It does not make us a Microsoft store, and we don't claim to be one — Microsoft sells its own software at microsoft.com.

What we sell, and what kind of licence each one is
Every product page states the licence type. Here is the plain-English version:

On "Professional Plus": Office Professional Plus is Microsoft's volume-licence edition. It is genuine Microsoft software and activates on Microsoft's servers, but it was built for organisations, so it does not link to a personal Microsoft account the way a retail Home & Business box does. If you need an edition that lives in your Microsoft account, choose Office 2024 Home & Business instead — we say which is which on every product page.
On "lifetime": A perpetual licence (Windows, Office 2024/2021/2019) is a one-off purchase — no subscription, no renewal. Microsoft still ends support for each version on a published date (Office 2021: 13 October 2026; Office 2024: 9 October 2029). The software keeps working after that; it stops receiving security updates. We show the support-end date on every product page. Microsoft 365 is subscription software and has never had a lifetime version; we don't sell one.
Why our prices are a fraction of Microsoft's
Microsoft charges $199 for Windows 11 Pro and $249 for Office 2024 Home & Business. We charge around $30 for a genuine key. The difference comes from three things:
- We buy in volume. Keys are bought in bulk from wholesale distributors and liquidation channels — surplus from organisations and distributors that bought more than they used.
- Digital only. No box, no disc, no shipping, no shop. The key is emailed within about 60 seconds of payment.
- We sell the volume edition where one exists. Professional Plus costs less to source than the retail box of the same software.
This is the model used by every established key reseller, which is why they all sell at similar prices. It is also why these keys sit in what people call the "grey market": the software is genuine and activates with Microsoft, but the route to you is not Microsoft's own retail channel. We'd rather you knew that and decided with the facts.
How to tell a genuine key from a bad one — ours or anyone's
- It activates on Microsoft's own servers. No "activator", script or patched installer — we never send you software to run, only a 25-character key.
- The seller tells you the licence type before you pay.
- The seller is a named, registered company with an address, not just a payment form.
- Reviews are on an independent platform with real volume — ours are on Trustpilot.
- There is a refund route that doesn't depend on the payment processor.
What happens if a key doesn't work
- Message us on live chat or email support@nerdused.com with your order number — a person answers, any hour.
- We check the key against Microsoft's activation response. Most "not working" cases are an edition mismatch (Home vs Pro) or an activation step, and we walk you through it.
- If the key is faulty, we replace it. If a replacement doesn't activate either, you get a full refund under our 30-day refund promise.
Our 2026 record (1 January – 20 October 2026): 12,675 orders, of which 542 (4.3%) were refunded — more than 95 in every 100 orders completed with no refund needed.

Things people ask
Is Nerdused an authorised Microsoft reseller?
We are a registered member of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program (Partner ID 6467441). "Authorised reseller" is a separate Microsoft programme for selling at Microsoft's retail prices; we are not in that programme, and our prices wouldn't be possible inside it. Our keys are genuine Microsoft keys and activate with Microsoft.
Will Microsoft deactivate my key later?
A properly activated Windows or Office key stays activated. Microsoft can block keys that were obtained fraudulently, which is why we buy from traceable channels and replace or refund any key that fails.
Can I use these licences for my business?
Yes — Windows and Office perpetual keys are used by thousands of our business customers, and we issue VAT invoices. If your business needs licences that must appear under your own Microsoft tenant in an audit, buy through Microsoft's CSP channel instead; tell us and we'll say so rather than sell you the wrong thing.
Why do some people online say Nerdused is a scam?
Most of those posts date from before December 2025, when the store changed hands, and concern Microsoft 365 "lifetime accounts" sold by the previous operator. Microsoft 365 is subscription software and should never have been sold as lifetime; since December 2025 it is sold as a 12-month seat and the listing says so. The Windows and Office keys that make up almost all of our orders activate on Microsoft's servers and are covered by the refund promise above.
