Office LTSC 2024 Professional Plus Download & Activation Guide

This guide is for Office Professional Plus 2024 (LTSC) on Windows: the six-app suite that adds Access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote. It is the edition most of our business and multi-PC customers buy, so it also covers the volume-licence details IT people ask about: channel, product ID, ospp.vbs activation and what to do when a key hits its activation count.

Version / channel	Office LTSC 2024, Perpetual Volume Licence 2024 channel. The installer downloads the current 2024 build from Microsoft's servers (Version 2408 and later)
Licence	This is a volume-licence build (the installer's configuration uses Microsoft's PerpetualVL2024 channel with product ID ProPlus2024Volume), so it activates with a Multiple Activation Key (MAK) rather than a retail key. Enter the key in any Office app under File → Account → Activate Product, or from an administrator Command Prompt: cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16" then cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:YOUR-KEY and cscript ospp.vbs /act. cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus shows the activation state.

It is important to note that the key you have acquired is a prepaid code that does not work with the pre-installed software. This product is an authentic Microsoft offering.

Verify your download

Every installer is a self-extracting package that contains Microsoft's Office Deployment Tool (setup.exe, signed by Microsoft Corporation) and a small configuration.xml. Before you run it, you can check that the file you downloaded is the one we published: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run certutil -hashfile FILENAME.exe SHA256. The result must match the checksum below exactly.

Before you start

• Have your Professional Plus 2024 key from the order email ready (25 characters). One key activates the number of PCs you bought (1, 3 or 5).
• Installing on several PCs? Run the same installer on each one and enter the same key; the activation count is tracked by Microsoft, not by the file.
• Back up any Access databases (.accdb) before removing an older Office — they open unchanged in Access 2024.
• Allow about 3 GB of download per PC and 10–20 minutes each.

How to Install Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus

Here’s a step-by-step guide to installing Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus.

Step 1: Uninstall Existing Microsoft Office (Required)

Before installing Office Professional Plus 2024, remove any previous versions to avoid conflicts.

1. Open the “Control Panel”.
2. Select “Programs and Features”.
3. Find Microsoft Office in the list, right-click, and select “Uninstall”.
4. Follow the uninstallation wizard instructions.

Note: The process may take several minutes, depending on your computer’s configuration.

Important: Restart your computer after uninstalling.

Step 2: Install Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus

After downloading the Office installer:

1. Go to your Downloads folder

2. Locate the installer file (Office_2024_EN_64Bits.exe)

3. Right-click and select Run as administrator

4. Follow the on-screen instructions

5. Select the “Install” button. This operation will extract the application and proceed with the installation of your product.

Step 3: Activate Microsoft Office

Method 1: Online Activation

1. Open any Office app, and you will be prompted to enter the activation key when launching any application from the Microsoft Office suite; this will be the initial request you encounter.

During the installation of Microsoft Office, you should have received a prompt to input the product key that we provided. If this prompt did not appear, please open Word, navigate to the File menu, select Account, and enter the key in the designated area. Failure to do so will result in your purchased Microsoft Office converting to a trial version after 30 days.

Method 2: Alternative Activation

1. Open any Office app

2. Go to File -> Account

3. Click Activate Product

4. Select Enter Product Key

5. Enter your product key

6. Choose Phone Activation

7. Take note of the Installation ID

Complete Activation via Microsoft Portal

1. Visit https://visualsupport.microsoft.com/

2. Click Let’s Get Started

3. Sign in with Microsoft Account

4. Select Activate a Microsoft Product

5. Choose Microsoft Office and Windows OS

6. Enter Installation ID

7. Obtain Confirmation ID

8. Enter Confirmation ID in Office activation window

Your Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus should now be installed and activated.

Common errors and the fix for each

• 0x80070005 ("Access denied") during activation — Office was not run with enough rights to write the licence. Close all Office apps, right-click Word and choose Run as administrator, then activate. On a work PC, group policy can also cause this; contact us with the error and we'll walk you through it.
• 0xC004C008 or 0xC004C060 ("the activation server reported that the product key has exceeded its unlock limit") — The key has hit its activation count, usually because Office was reinstalled several times. Use phone activation (Method 2 above) or contact us on live chat with your order number and we'll sort it out under the 30-day refund promise.
• Error 30015-xx, 30088-xx or 30183-xx while installing — Remnants of a previous Office install are blocking Click-to-Run. Run Microsoft's Office uninstall support tool, restart, then run our installer again.
• 0xC004F074 ("The Key Management Server could not be contacted") — The volume build is looking for a KMS server because no key has been entered yet. Enter your MAK with cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:YOUR-KEY then cscript ospp.vbs /act from an administrator Command Prompt in the Office16 folder, or use File → Account → Activate Product.
• Access is missing after the install — The Professional Plus installer (product ID ProPlus2024Volume) always includes Access. If it is not in the Start menu you ran the Standard installer by mistake — remove Office (Step 1) and run the Professional Plus file from the table above.

Questions we get about this edition

What does "LTSC" mean and is it the same as Office 2024?

Long-Term Servicing Channel. It is the volume-licence edition of Office 2024: identical apps and builds to the retail version, activated with a volume (MAK) key instead of a retail key, and supported to the same date, 9 October 2029.

I already have Microsoft 365 on this PC. Can I install this next to it?

No — Click-to-Run allows one Office generation per PC. Remove Microsoft 365 first (Step 1), or install Office 2024 on a different machine.

Is the 32-bit version still needed?

Only for old 32-bit add-ins or COM components. Everything else should use 64-bit, which handles large Excel workbooks and Access databases better.
