What's included in Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus

Office 365 lifetime vs 1-year account

Office 365 Pro Plus is not a lifetime licence. It is a 1-year account: you pay $29.99 once, use it for 12 months on up to 5 devices, and nothing renews automatically.

It is the right buy if you need Office on a Mac, a phone or several mixed devices this year, or want the newest features as Microsoft releases them. If you want to pay once and keep Office for good on Windows, buy Office 2024 Professional Plus instead: the same apps including Access, as a lifetime licence key, from the same $29.99. Our lifetime licence vs Microsoft 365 guide runs the numbers over one, three and five years.

How to set up Office 365 Pro Plus

1. Pay, and the email with your new account login and initial password arrives in about 60 seconds.
2. Go to portal.office.com and sign in with the new account. Microsoft asks you to set your own password the first time.
3. Click Install and more at the top right of the dashboard and download the desktop installer for Windows or Mac. On a phone or tablet, install the Microsoft 365 app from the App Store or Google Play.
4. Open any Office app, for example Word, sign in with the account and restart the app. Office is now activated. Repeat on up to five devices.

Works on Windows PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android; you need an internet connection to sign in and install. Uninstall any trial or older Office on the same PC first. For how Microsoft 365 sign-ins, billing and renewal work in general, read Microsoft 365 subscription explained.

What kind of licence is this?

A newly created Microsoft 365 account with the Office 365 Pro Plus licence already assigned to it by Microsoft, issued to you individually; there is no product key to enter. The account email address is fixed, so keep it for Office and leave your personal Microsoft account as it is. If the account will not sign in, contact support for a full refund within 30 days.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Office 365 Pro Plus and Microsoft 365?

Office 365 Pro Plus comes as a Microsoft 365 account. Unlike Microsoft 365 Personal or Family, you do not add a subscription to your own Microsoft account: you get a new account, with its own fixed email address, that already has the licence on it.

Does Office 365 Pro Plus include Access and Outlook?

Yes. The full desktop versions of Outlook and Access are included; Access installs on Windows only.

Can I use it on a Mac and an iPhone?

Yes. The five device slots can be any mix of Windows PCs, Macs, iPhones, iPads and Android devices, all signed in with the same account.

Will it renew or charge my card again?

No. You pay $29.99 once at checkout. There is no stored payment method and nothing recurs; when the year ends, buy a new account if you want to continue.

Can I change the account email address?

No. The email address is fixed when the account is created. You can, and should, change the password at first sign-in.

Is this a genuine Microsoft 365 account?

Yes. It signs in directly at Microsoft's own portal and receives its updates from Microsoft. Nerdused is a UK-based Microsoft Partner (Partner ID 6467441), and if an account does not sign in you get a full refund within 30 days.
